Since 1992

An artist's studio
that opened its doors.

Sitka Studio has been part of Tlell's little run of riverside studios since 1992 — a working artists' place first, and a gallery, bookshop and supply room by happy extension. It sits on the same green property as the old cottage, with the Tlell River sliding past the front yard.

The people behind it are makers themselves:

Painter & master printmaker

A printmaker, painter and pastelist who has made Haida Gwaii home for close to forty years — trained in Paris, London and Florence before the islands drew her in. Her work anchors the studio walls.

Artist & fly-fisher

The artist behind Sitka Studio, and the maker of the much-photographed hut carved over two years from a single giant Sitka spruce stump just up the road — a small Tlell landmark in its own right.
